“Breathing” is one of the only topics that has been researched for years. As a result of all the research, it has been discovered that there are several techniques that will enable people to get more efficiency from their breath. It has also been discovered that these techniques have significant benefits, especially in the journey of coping with negative emotions.

Benefits of Breathing Therapy

According to research, there are many benefits that come with correct breathing. If we were to list them;

  • Breathing correctly minimizes the possibility of anxiety in daily life. Especially considering that boring city life exposes us to a certain amount of tension every day, the ability to overcome possible anxiety risks with correct breathing is very important for us.
  • With proper breathing, you can purify yourself from mental depression. In today's world where boredom creates psychological fluctuations, you can be more dynamic and cheerful in your daily life thanks to this benefit.
  • In daily life full of troubles, we can sometimes have difficulty focusing. This reduces the quality of our work and the efficiency we get from ourselves. As such, we start to enjoy our lives less. However, breathing correctly allows a person to focus on what he is doing. In this way, the person becomes more successful and enjoys life more.
  • Research has revealed that diseased cells in the body do not live in environments with plenty of oxygen. In other words, it is possible to have healthier cells and live a healthier life with proper breathing and plenty of oxygen.
  • In recent years, it has been observed that most people in society have complaints about their excess weight. Although it is a little-known technique, with correct breathing techniques, it is possible for a person to speed up his metabolism and thus lose a large amount of weight. In fact, it has been revealed that the fat in the abdominal area can be burned in a short time with the Japanese Breathing Technique, developed by a person with back pain.
  • Correct breathing positively affects the pineal gland, one of our hormones. The fact that the pineal gland is positively affected is also a very important factor that will enable us to sleep better at night.

Breath Types

Diaphragmatic Breathing

It would not be an exaggeration to say that diaphragmatic breathing is one of the most beneficial types of breathing for the body. If we define the type of breathing; The type of breathing in which our abdomen expands when we breathe and falls when we breathe is called diaphragmatic breathing. The main thing in diaphragmatic breathing is to control the breath entering the lungs with the diaphragm muscle.

Rib Breath

It is a breathing pattern in which the ribs expand to both sides and the abdomen flattens during breathing. In this type of breathing, the lower part of the lungs cannot function fully. Additionally, the type of breathing that causes tension in the neck therefore leads to fatigue.

Chest Breathing

It is a breathing pattern in which the rib cage expands while breathing. Although it is not as tiring as rib breathing, it is not as healthy as diaphragmatic breathing.

Full Breath

The type of breathing that is based on filling the lungs from bottom to top is called full breathing. In other words, the breath in which you first fill the lower part of your lungs, then expand the upper part of your ribcage and fill the middle part of your lungs with breath, and finally fill the upper part of your lungs by expanding your shoulders is called a full breath. It is recommended to do it while lying down to get the required efficiency from full breathing.
